Curtains twitch in unison As he descends upon the playground A secret rendezvous They kiss and look around Make no sound He strokes her face So tender and mild Afflicted from his birth 23 without a lover Tied to his mother A precocious 14 years Sexuality uncovered Woke from it's slumber Her mother wracked with despair She warned her now to beware He wasn't all there She conjured up a spirit A spectre who would take care A ghost to ensnare He stroked her face So tender and mild His body of an adult His mind of a child They broke both his hands And they burned his feet Hacked off his balls As his face they beat Penetrated him with broken glass Left him to die in the underpass

1/6 of my CD collection was bought in the vain hope that it would make me seem cooler I have consumed over 100 hours of hardcore pornography 256, the number of times I have said "I am never drinking again" 50% of my exes hate my fucking guts, and the other 50% just think I'm a twat My life in statistics My life in statistics I have cheated on my various partners a total of 14 times, at least 1/3 of my life so far has been a complete waste of time 80% of the things I have started I have never finished 1 in 3 of my thoughts regard an unrequited ambition, the other 2 regard an unrequited sexual fantasy My life in statistics My life in statistics

I arrange the cans two by two My aluminium army They build a wall ten metres high Allow no enemies to harm me They march over treacherous terrain Underwear reappropriated by suspect stains Empty vessels - two litres big Giant silos replete with one last swig Fallen comrades this is a call to arms Help me to negotiate this night unharmed Neutralise my love The aggressor Undermine her Then undress her Fallen comrades this is a call to arms Help me to negotiate this night unharmed Anesthetize me from the threat of loneliness Hold me to your bosom with your sweet caress

I whiled away my time today With foreign films and computer games Smoking fags I can't afford Afraid to step out the front door I'm on the edge, on the precipice... Drowned my ambition in alcohol Confined myself to these four walls With a cactus named after myself Pay skant attention to my failing health I'll get myself a callcentre job The defenceless elderly I'll rob Rationalise away my fears Swap anecdotes with my peers I'm on the edge, on the precipice Of what I now know to be rational living Rational living Rational living

Silent World 03:16
Wherever you go, there you are Trapped inside the wreckage of a car Crash through the driver's side Fractured limbs and broken pride Always comes before a fall Headlights illuminate the wall We condense, and break and smash Through the windscreen in a swarm of glass Ghostly figures preside My hand mangled in the door My neck wrenched off to the side The urine streams across the floor Numbness sweeps me from the neck down Blue lights propel me through the town Indifference mapped across their face Shattered limbs can't take me from this place Of misery and despair Where disgust is hidden in their care Patronising smiles and absent sighs The simple truth concealed within their lies Ghostly figures preside My hand mangled in the door My neck wrenched off to the side The urine streams across the floor Nurse cleans without a word Drugs, they bring relief Confined to this silent world I pray for my release
6.
We used to build ships here Not just despair Now the veins of our city Lie in disrepair All our industry Faded or tertiary All our hopes and dreams Subject to tyranny We used to build ships here We used to make steel We worked with conviction To provide every meal Now for the flocks of foreign tourists Our city we debase As they take photographs for albums To document a dying place We used to build ships here We used to make steel
7.
All those convenient lies that I have chosen to tell Have now condemned me to my own little private hell Those sincere 'I love you's, all misplaced And my lustful lips upon the wrong face But if you were here now I'd surely resent you All your intelligence, beauty and charm would desert you You'd take me for granted and I'd fuck around Get pissed and accuse you of being tightly wound Clandestine wanks over scattered memories of you Sometimes your arse, sometimes our lips, sometimes your red shoes Try to capture your face but it always drifts away Distorts and merges more with every passing day But if you were here now I'd surely resent you All your intelligence, beauty and charm would desert you You'd take me for granted and I'd fuck around Get pissed and accuse you of being tightly wound

about

Greetings traveller,

Welcome to the second installment of How Garbo Died's series of home recordings.
Batch 2: Evacuation Techniques 101 is - much like it's predecessor - a chronological release. In short, these tracks were imagined as the next step in the cultivation of a unique Garbo sound and as such have more scope for emotional involvement than batch 1. Although there are still plenty of moments that find us being willfully obtuse and using distancing techniques there are far more instances of naked emotion and introspection.
What also became apparent during the mixing process is that the stories recounted throughout this batch, both personal and fictional, are very dark in content. This was not a deliberate artistic decision but rather an interesting sidebar to the period in which these songs were conceived. Beside the laments of lost love there are murders, car crashes, hymns to our industrial past and rants against the general malaise present in modern existence.
This group of songs is extremely important to us if for no other reason than writing them gave us the confidence required to realise that we could produce music worthy of our lofty ideals – in that spirit we hope you will enjoy the fruits of our labour.
